In response to the US Department of Transportation re-issuing the greenhouse gas emissions rule, Libero Della Piana from the National Campaign for Transit Justice issued the following statement:
“The bipartisan infrastructure law is a historic bill and this new rule will ensure it can not only create jobs, rebuild the nation’s crumbling infrastructure and invest in transit but also live up to its promise of helping to combat climate change. We applaud the Administration for taking this necessary and bold action. It is another important step to undoing the harms of the last Administration.
“The climate crisis is not coming. It is here now. And this rule will help meet this moment with the urgency needed.”
In March, the National Transit Campaign led a campaign urging the Administration to take this action. They brought together more than 100 environmental and transportation groups together to demand action by the Administration.
